A significant percentage of my extended family lives in coastal Washington, where they reside by the seashore and frequently cook exquisite gourmet food. Needless to say, it is always amazing to visit them, and after leaving RISD’s summer program I had the opportunity to stop by for a few days! Exhausted to the very core, I stepped off the plane and into the arms of my dear cousin Elena, who I hadn’t seen in almost two years. For the next two days, through yoga, girl talk, paddleboarding, laughter, sunshine and the best food known to man, she revived me back to stress-free health. We celebrated her birthday with the whole family at her parent’s house, catching up and feasting on an extravagant meal reminiscent of Christmas holidays of my childhood. Zach, a friend from NOLS who I hadn’t seen since India, showed up right in the middle of it all, and we managed to fit in yet another day of Puget Sound sunshine and delicious meals before heading to Oregon.
